Namaste

Namaste and a warm welcome to all.

As you can see my blog is about food and recipes. I love eating and trying out new recipes all the time.

Very often we mum's think of healthy and interesting food options that we can make for our kids especially when they are back from school knowing that their lunch boxes never come back home empty. Hence I always feel its important to give them a healthy and wholesome snack once they are home. When my kid comes home from school I always try and give him some source of carbohydrate combined with proteins along with this, a fruit and milk, or puddings made from milk. Kids normally can't eat too much at one time, so the portions can be small but giving them a little from each of these food group ensures a balanced meal.

I have some interesting ideas that I'd like to share with you all. You might find some of my recipes very basic but I am hoping that my blog is helpful not only for Indians but for people all around the world! Indian food is quite popular and enjoyed by most, so hopefully you can attempt recipes from here and make it yourself now, in your kitchen. Please do go through my recipes and give it a shot at trying them. Let me know how things turned out and if you enjoyed your experience of cooking.... Feel free to get in touch, share your experience, leave a comment or ask any questions you may have. Thank you for stopping by and taking a look! I do hope its helpful.

Happy cooking!

SOUL FOOD

Hello again....
I thought of creating this page because whenever I am lost or feeling low, pondering on these thoughts always help me and make me feel better giving my irrational mind some rationality....and soon things fall into place.
Most of us are very particular about what we eat since that will contribute to our health, good or bad, however we are never particular of what we feed our minds (I mean our thoughts, some could be good and some probably not so good).....which eventually shape our lives making us happy or miserable and an entire lifetime goes by without even we realizing it...
Disappointments and failures may come our way at some time or another.....So should we just keep feeling bad about what happened to us and be stuck there, or complain as to why it had to happen to me and keep holding on? Or do we learn to move ahead and get on with life and live happily......Here are some of the thoughts I abide by very sincerely and read them almost everyday. I believe that if you start your day with these beliefs (good & positive thoughts) & keep your mind self-motivated all the time then, you will be shaping a beautiful you and creating a beautiful life for yourself. So here are some of the very helpful and valuable statements from renowned and great achievers that I have brought together on this page for all my readers....It all begins with just a thought, so give it a minute, give it your thought.....

A life organized for the discovery of the potentialities already within ourselves, and the ordering of our behavior so as to nurture and nourish them, is a life well spent. Herein our success depends upon the amount of transformation we can successfully bring about in our personality and character. The vital question is not how many talents each one of us has, but how much of our existing talents are we capable of exploring, developing and exploiting. An individual my have many talents, and yet, he can be a miserable failure in life. That person is successful who makes a practical use of at least one great talent that he possesses.
- Swami Chinmayananda

PRACTICE:
Don't complain! Yes, simple yet challenging. Just strictly refrain from complaining about anything or anyone. Mmmmm.....not even mentally!

A complain is symptomatic of 2 basic patterns of wrong thinking:
1) When things and people get better, I will be happy.
2) I am better.

FACT:
1) When I am happy, things and people will get better.
2) All is good. "Better" and "Worse" are myths.

So, stop complaining. Be strong enough to see good in everything, smart enough to correct what is not right and detached enough to just shut up otherwise.

This week, BE WISE enough to not complain in any case.

Let our work stand for itself.....
We shall have no ears! Let the world estimate our success, criticize our failures, laugh at our hopes, smile at our visions-
We shall work for Him, as He commands us. We shall always do lovingly our best. We have no explanations to give, no reports to draft, no statements to make. We are what we are. In fact, explanations seldom, if at all, explain; they simply burden our day to day activities.
Act on........We shall.
Work dedicatedly, WE MUST!
- Swami Chinmayananda

If you expect the world to be fair to you just because you have been fair to the world, its like telling the lion not to eat you because you did not eat it!

Success and happiness are not mysterious accidents. They are deliberate results arising from the obedience to the Laws of Life. The more you learn of these laws and train yourself to conform your life to it, in all your thoughts and desires, you are on the sure way to achieve it.
- Swami Chinmayananda.

If you believe in God, why don't you see him?

Your life is going to be just as easy, or just as difficult as you decide it is going to be. Learn to relax, learn to accept, learn to flow. You will be surprised at the inner peace that acceptance can bring.

A beautiful life does not just happen, it is built daily by prayer, humility, sacrifice and hard work. So what are you waiting for? Start now....

If you are depressed, you are living in the past.
If you are anxious, you are living in the future.
If you are at peace, you are living in the present.
- Lao Tzu.

Mighty plans of action can be undertaken only by equally mighty men. A man is mighty according to the amount of energy and concentration and tranquility of mind he can bring into his undertaking with confidence in himself and faith in the goal he has chosen to reach. The self confidence can be generated and continuously maintained even in the face of dire difficulties only if we hold on to our convictions.
- Swami Chinmayananda

A man is required to do only two things: Give and Forgive.
- Dada J.P. Vaswani.

Be aggressively good.
- Swami Chinmayananda.

In the end, only three things matter:
how much you loved,
how gently you lived,
and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.
- Buddha

Have faith in your heart. Faith that whatever happens, happens for the best. Faith that as long as one is supposed to live, whatever one needs in life will come to one, even unsought or uninvited. Faith that just as whatever a father or mother gives us is meant for our good, so, too, life takes care of us. This is true, simple living.

One effective way of making yourself lovable is to speak sweetly with others. The idea, of course, is not to fake affection or to flatter others, but rather, to approach everyone with a positive, warm and sincerely caring attitude.
- Swami Swaroopananda, Chinmaya Mission

We dont't experience the world unless our mind is functional. Thus the whole world, or whatever we perceive to be the world, is in our mind. The mind consists of thoughts. When thoughts go haywire, we cannot understand the mind. We seem to drown in the mind. But, if we keep our mind and our life simple, then the thoughts in our mind become ordered and rhythmic.
- Swami Swaroopananda, Chinmaya Mission

ON:

You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given to you.
- Sarah Ban Breathnach

What if you gave someone a gift, and they neglected to thank you for it, would you be likely to give them another? Life is the same way. In order to attract more of the blessings that life has to offer, you must truly appreciate what you already have.
- Ralph Marston

Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy - because we will always want to have something else or something more.
- Brother David Steindl-Rast

It's not happiness that brings us gratitude, its gratitude that brings us happiness!

Happiness cannot be travelled to,owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.
- Denis Waitley

There is a law of gratitude, and it is....the natural principle that action and reaction are always equal and in opposite directions. The grateful outreaching of your mind in thankful praise to supreme intelligence is a liberation or expenditure of force. It cannot fail to reach that to which it is addressed, and the reaction is an instantaneous movement toward you.
- Wally Wattles

Gratitude should not be just a reaction to getting what you want, but an all-the-time gratitude, the kind where you notice the little things and where you constantly look for the good, even in unpleasant situations. Start bringing gratitude to your experiences, instead of waiting for a positive experience in order to feel grateful.
- Marelisa Fabrega

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary
Because it means you've made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles and they can become your blessings.
